Police arrest Nabha jailbreak mastermind and close associate of Punjab gangsters
Patiala, December 20, 2017: Acting on an input provided by the Intelligence Wing, Punjab, Patiala Police arrested Inderjit Singh Sandhu of village Sangatpur, Tarn Taran district.
The accused was sent to 3-day police remand.
A Lookout notice had been issued by the Patiala Police against the accused.
The police said in a release that the accused have travelled from Jordan to New Delhi on the fake Passport of Gurjant Singh. An FIR was registered against him at Police Station, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Terminal-3, New Delhi.
According to the police, Inderjit Singh Sandhu is one of the closest associates/accomplices of notorious gangsters of Punjab, namely Harjinder Singh @Vicky Gonder, Prema Lohoria, Kulpreet Singh @Neeta Deol etc. involved in the Nabha Jailbreak case.
The accused was allegedly one of the masterminds of the Nabha Jailbreak case and was instrumental in providing logistical support, managing finances and providing hideouts to the gangsters involved in the jailbreak case.
He is also alleged to be involved in number of heinous crimes including extortion, drugs and gunrunning etc. registered across Punjab.
The accused was handling some Facebook Profiles of notorious gangsters Harjinder Singh @Vicky Gonder and Shera Khuban Group and had been repeatedly using this platform for issuing threats/statements on the behalf of the aforementioned gangsters.
In a video post August 3, 2017, he issued death threats to Vishal Kumar @Jaggi Ropar of Himachal Pardesh and Amrit Bal on behalf of notorious gangster Harjinder Singh @Vicky Gonder.
In addition, on several occasions in the past the accused had travelled on fake Passports from India to various destinations abroad and vice versa.
The custodial interrogation of the accused is likely to throw significant light on the Nabha Jail break case conspiracy and other heinous crimes committed in the state, said the police.
