SCD Govt. College Ludhiana Alumni suggest ways to recompense trauma of USA deported returnees

Ludhiana (Punjab), February 16, 2025: In an online lively discussion on behalf of Alumni Association, the alumni group of this prestigious institution have suggested some proactive steps for the rehabilitation of our youth returnees deported by the USA.
All the participants plainly said that as these young people are mentally completely shattered, they must be provided urgent counseling and be looked after.
A member from UK Jagraj Singh who also runs a charity overseas said that returnees should not be made to feel bad so that they do not take any dangerous step to harm themselves.
Participants stressed said that fraudsters errant travel agents’ properties be sold and be used for payment to the affected families. GOI and Punjab Govt. can bring ordinance. It shall deter the mafia.
Principal Manjit Singh Sandhu gave a call to SGPC, Amritsar to allocate funds towards financial assistance to the youth of Punjab for startups or its sponsored Institutions imparting Technical Education at the village level. “
It should start institutions that can prepare youth for the job market and it includes skills in areas like robotics, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things besides soft skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork etc. etc , " he said.
The same views were expressed by Brij Bhushan Goyal, Organizing Secretary of the association asking all other religious platforms to come forward to pay back to the community which has filled their coffers with donations.
The colossal wastage of money on useless pursuits by such institutions which have accumulated in millions be avoided and they must utilize funds for youth employment avenues, which is the need of the hour, he said.”
He further said that Punjab’s entrepreneurs should absorb them in jobs if youth and their families are ready.He also asked for a special scheme to be devised for rural and other returnees to train them in various skills at PAU, Ludhiana and other skill centers with assistance from Punjab Government.
Alumni K B Singh and Jagjit Singh Sidhu too echoed the same sentiments and asked politicians to stop politicking and focus on issues realistically which our state faces.
