Ek Din DC/SSP De Sang; Learnt a lot, encouraged and committed to achieve desired goals in life: say students

Nawanshahr May 29,2025 - As a part of Punjab Government’s unique initiative ‘Ek Din DC/SSP De Sang’ seven students, who secured top positions in matriculation and senior secondary examinations in the district, while spending a day with Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, have felt unbounded joy as they said if you have positive mindset, hard work and firm commitment, no one can stop you to achieve the desired goals.
Starting their day with breakfast at Deputy Commissioner’s camp office, the students said they were filled with ecstasy being hosted for entire day to provide them an exposure of daily professional pursuits of Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police. They said they were highly motivated with the views, counselling, guidance and information given by the Deputy Commissioner about studies, struggle and career. The students namely Twinkle Kaur, Babita Kumari, both secured 97.54 percent and 96.75 percent marks respectively in matriculation. In senior secondary results, the students Simrajeet Kaur got 98.6 percent, Harmanpreet Kaur secured 97.6, Ranbir Kaur also 97.6, Shreya Yadav and Adarsh Yadav both siblings got 97.2 and 97.4 percent.
Interacting with the Deputy Commissioner Ankurjeet Singh, the students apprised him about their goals in study and future. They said that they were also proud on their hardwork, which led them to become topper in district thus further enabling to spend an entire day with the top bureaucrats in the district.
Sharing his personal experience in study and hardship for achieving his goal as an IAS officer, Ankurjeet Singh said that nothing matter before the determined mind resulting success in life. He said the hard work done by students in their matriculation, eleventh and +2 would definitely pay in further courses, education and competitive exams so the students must make a strong foundation in these classes. The students also sat in different meeting being chaired by the Deputy Commissioner. He also briefed the students about the major functioning of District Magistrate and its offices.
The students were also took round of offices in District Administrative Complex including ADC (G) office, D.P.R.O., District Development and Panchayats Offices, DPO, Control Room, Social Security Office, SDM office, Sewa Kendra and other branches, where their queries were answered by the officials.
Meanwhile, the students were also met and interacted with the SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh in his office, who acquainted them with the functioning of police department. The SSP, who is a MBBS doctor, also told them about his journey to become an IPS officer. The students also visited different offices in the SSP office and met with the officials to know the working of police.
Kulwant Kaur mother of Twinkle Kaur of village Mandali expressed her gratitude towards Punjab Government for initiating this step, which would go a long way in overall development and to achieve success by students in future.
Balwinder Kaur mother of Babita Kumari of Banga city said that she never thought that her daughter would visit Deputy Commissioner and SSP after securing top position in matriculation in the district. She said spending entire day with the Deputy Commissioner and SSP was a lifetime opportunity for outstanding students.
Balwinder Singh father of Harmanpreet Kaur of village Mazara Kalan said these were proud moments for the family especially for the Government Senior Secondary School, Jadla as Harmanpreet Kaur brought laurels for them thus becoming part of students being hosted by the Punjab Government and District Administration. He said the day was full of information, knowledge and exposure for the students, who learnt a lot for excelling in their desired fields.
