Punjab’s Schools of Eminence Host 3-Day Orientation Program to Inspire Class 9 Students
Chandigarh, May 29, 2025: The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, successfully concluded a transformative three-day orientation program from May 26 to 28 for newly admitted Class 9 students at all Schools of Eminence (SoE) across the state. Punjab’s School Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, highlighted that the initiative aims to instill a “Sky’s the Limit” mindset, fostering ambition, determination, and academic excellence among young minds.
The orientation program welcomed thousands of students into an enriched academic environment, equipping them with tools for success through expert talks, alumni role model sessions, and interactive co-curricular activities. “This program reflects our commitment to empowering every child to chase their dreams and achieve their full potential,” Bains said.
Renowned professionals from fields such as civil services, medicine, law, defense, engineering, business, and academia shared their journeys to inspire students. At SoE Mallanwala Khas in Ferozepur, Dr. Sandeep Singh Sandhu, a University of California Ph.D. and former Amazon and Oracle professional, mentored students on connecting rural talent to global opportunities. In SoE Khamano Kalan, Fatehgarh Sahib, Principal Secretary Rahul Bhandari emphasized the importance of reading and curiosity as pathways to success.
DSP Karamjeet Kaur, an alumna of SoE Pheel Khana in Patiala, returned to inspire students with her story of breaking barriers in law enforcement. At SoE Jandiala Guru, Amritsar, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Manjit Singh Rataul guided students on excelling in medical careers and maintaining discipline. Professor Amandeep Kaur Dhaliwal, a University of California faculty member, motivated students at SoE Ajnala with her journey from Delhi University to the U.S., focusing on women’s empowerment. Colonel S. Paramjit Singh engaged students at SoE Chheharta, Amritsar, introducing them to institutions like the National Defence Academy and emphasizing leadership. At SoE Kharar, IIT Varanasi student Tamanna shared her inspiring path from a government school to IIT.
The program featured 267 expert sessions and 146 alumni role model talks, offering practical advice on competitive exams and campus life. Hands-on activities, including English newspaper reading, debates, vision board creation, and motivational film screenings, encouraged critical thinking and creativity. A “Make Your Summer Count” session concluded the program, guiding students on productive vacation planning through goal-setting and study tracking.
Bains reiterated the Punjab Government’s commitment to empowering students with opportunities to excel, stating, “Our government school students will shine in every sphere of life.”
