New Delhi, May 25(UNI) Thanking the NDA MPs, especially the first timers, BJP Parliamentary Party and NDA leader Narendra Modi on Saturday said the people have accepted them due to their 'seva bhaav'(spirit of serving the nation).
Addressing the NDA Parliamentary party meeting at the Central Hall of Parliament, Mr Modi said, 'People have accepted us due to our 'seva bhav'. One has to prepare oneself to be always ready to help people even when you move through the lanes of politics and power.'
He said the World was keenly watching the election and thanked the Election Commission and State Election Commissions for free and fair poll process.
On the people's mandate, he said, 'It is the sense of judgement of our people, which cannot be measured in any manner(yeh bharat ke naagrik ka vivek hai jise maapa nahi ja sakta).'
'The election itself was a festival. And the celebrations on the results even more so. People from around the World joined in. They have my heartfelt gratitude,' he added.
Mr Modi said 2019 elections have worked towards breaking down walls and connecting hearts and had in a way become a way to unite the society.
'The people have started a new era and all of us are a witness to it. We are here for those who trusted us today. We are here for those too whose trust we are yet to win,' he added.
'Modi has challenged Modi and broken all records of 2014 by winning this election,' Mr Modi said.
The name of Mr Modi as BJP Parliamentary party leader was proposed by party president Amit Shah, which was seconded by senior leaders Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh.
Mr Modi's name was again proposed as the NDA leader by SAD patron Parkash Singh Badal, which was
endorsed by JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, LJP head Ram Vilas Paswan, AIADMK co-convenor Edappadi Palaniswami, among other heads of alliance parties .
Party veterans L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were also present at the first NDA meet after the victory of Team Modi in Parliament’s Central Hall.
The BJP national president welcomed and congratulated Mr Modi soon after he was chosen as BJP Parliamentary Party chief and NDA leader.
The National Democratic Alliance has got more than 350 members in Lok Sabha while the BJP tally has shot up to 303.
