How to tackle Bharat Bandh? Punjab Govt issues instructions
Babushahi Bureau
Chandigarh, September 26, 2021: Ahead of the Bharat Bandh on Monday, the Punjab government has issued instructions to its officers on how to maintain a law and order situation.
A call of Bharat Bandh has been given by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) to mark the first anniversary of three farm bills getting President assent.
In an order issued to all the district magistrates, Police Commissioners, and SSPs, the Home department of the Punjab Government has asked the officers to follow all the instructions issued as suggested by ADGP (Law and Order) in his letter.
The instructions added that the DCs and CPs should reach out to the organizers and ensure peaceful protests and desist from blocking the National/State Highways or Railways.
“The protesters should be dealt with tact and patience. However, they should not be allowed to take the law in their hands and prompt action should be taken against those who are found engaging in loot, arson, damage to life, property or vehicles,” directions issued by the government added.
The department directed that the maximum duty magistrates should be deployed at the protest sites.
Similarly, Deputy Commissioners have been asked to direct Civil Surgeons to remain in full strength to handle injuries or medical distress.
