Ferozepur Writers’ welcome decision to repeal three farm laws, distribute ‘ladoos’
Ferozepur, November 19, 2021: The writers in Ferozepur welcomed the decision of the Modi government announced today, for repealing of three farm laws, on the historic day of Guru Nanak’s Parkash Utsav and distributed ‘ladoos’ among the citizens to express their happiness.
For the unversed, the farmers had been protesting and were encamped at Delhi's border since November 2020 with a demand that the Farmer's Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, Farmers' (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance And Farm Services Act , 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 be rolled back and a new law made to guarantee MSP for crops.
On this occasion, the writers of Ferozepur under the tutelage of Prof. Jaspal Ghai, Prof Gurtej Koharwala, Harmeet Vidyarthi, Sukhjinder Singh, Prof Kuldeep Singh and Surinder Kamboj, joined in the joy of the historic victory of the peasant movement and congratulated the people on this historic victory of the farmer’s movement. They also distributed ‘ladoos’ among the citizens to express their happiness.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Gurtej Koharwala said that this victory of the peasant movement would show a new path to the people of this country as it was the first victory of the country in the fight for independence from corporate houses.
They also paid homage to nearly 700 farmers who have martyred in this struggle adding that the central government’s determination is responsible for these unavoidable deaths, including the murders in October 3 violence at Lakhimpur Kheri in Bahadurgarh.
However, the farmer outfits in a separate statement had said that it will wait till the three farm laws are formally repealed, the Draft Electricity Act amendments are withdrawn and the law to ensure Minimum Support Price (MSP) is passed before taking a decision on the next course of their protests.
