Read: Announcements made by CM Channi after meeting farmers' unions

Chandigarh, November 17, 2021: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi after holding a meeting with a delegation of 32 farm unions' leaders, announced that all the state governments accepted all demands of the farmers.
Making major announcements, Channi said that farmers would now be paid Rs 17,000 per acre instead of Rs 12,000 per acre for losses to their crops. Cotton picking farm laborers will also be paid ten percent more than earlier.
Channi added that all the cases registered against the farmers so far will be dismissed. He also appealed to the farmers not to burn the paddy straw The chief minister said that payment for sugarcane (Rs 360 per quintal) would also be made soon.
He also informed that jobs would be provided to the families of the farmers who have been martyred on the borders of Delhi during the Kisan Andolan.
Channi said that for the first time the leaders of the farmers' unions were satisfied that such a meeting had never been held before.
CM said that within a week, we will make a law to ensure recruitment of Punjabis on a priority basis in the government sector in the state.
