Farmers returning from Delhi get warm welcome at village Nurpur Sethan in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, December 12, 2021: The farmers from Delhi – who had been protesting for the last more than one year at Shambu borders against the three Farm Laws – on returning home after the Central Government repealed the three Farm Laws and accepted other demands of farmers and labourers organisations, activists, were given a warm welcome. with great enthusiasm at village Nurpur Sethan by Bhagwan Singh Nambardar along with the villagers.
Perhaps this is the first time that the government has to bow before the longest protests of the farmers for 380 days, which is a lesson to the government. It also reminded the golden words of Shaheed Bhagat Singh which he said during his trial in April 1929- “If the deaf are to hear, the sound has to be very loud”.
The tractor rally moved to village Nurpur Sethan – known as the best village of India – on Ferozepur-Faridkot road. Hundreds of farmers from this village and from Achhe Hakewala, Shadiwala, Madike and others, had been camping at Delhi borders during the protest.
It is particular to mention that Babu Bakshish Singh, 88 years old of village Achhe Hakewala and Sukhbaz Singh Nagpal from Shahdin Wala had not come back to village and remained there day and night, during the protests at Delhi.
All the farmers who had participated in the protests were welcomed back home with garlands, showered flowers, distributed ladoos, fire-crackers in the sky and of course Punjabi Bhangra. The villagers also presented them ‘siropas’, blankets, lohis etc. as a gift in recognition of their contribution in repealing of laws.
The returning farmers said, the unity of the farmers and support from almost all quarters have brought the Modi government to its knees. However, we will continue our struggle for the MSP – minimum support price besides tapping the Punjab government to filfil the promise of waiving off farmers and labourers debts.
