New Delhi, April 14, 2020: Congress member of Rajya Sabha from Punjab Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday urged the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to order promotion to the Punjab cop who was brutally attacked by Nihangs at Sabzi Mandi in Patiala district.
In a letter written to the CM, Bajwa maintained that ASI Harjeet Singh should be conferred with a higher rank in the Punjab Police in recognition of his courage while performing duty.
Bajwa, however, appreciated the concern shown by the state government concerning the ASI’s health and promptly referring him to the PGI, Chandigarh for surgery of his amputated hand.
Condemning the perpetrators of the dastardly act, the former Punjab Congress president and minister maintained that giving promotion to the brave cop would send a positive message and strengthen morale of all the frontline warriors against the deadly virus.
