Chandigarh , May 02, 2020 : Chandigarh administration has decided to allow the movement of vehicles and the opening of shops by converting the curfew into lock down from may 04, 2020 but it has put some riders.
With the aim of ensuring minimum cars on the roads and minimum crowding in the markets, Chandigarh Administration has devised the odd even scheme for SHOPS as well as VEHICLES.
It is worth noting that on 4th May,2020 only EVEN numbered vehicles can ply on the roads and EVEN numbered shops can open and on 5th May, 2020, the same will apply on ODD numbered and so on according to the nature of date. Odd Even will be decided as per the Last digit of the Shop number or the Vehicle's registration number, as the case may be.
According to the official press release
"The vehicles will be allowed to be used between 07.00 AM to 07.00 PM without passes, as per protocol
Odd-Even formula will be applied in respect of both opening of shops and use of vehicles. For example on Monday beginning 4th of May, 2020, only shops ending even number such as 2, 4, 6 etc. and similarly vehicles carrying registration no. whose last digit is 2, 4, 6 etc. will be allowed. The rotation will continue accordingly."
Manoj Parida, Advisor to Administrator Chandigarh, reiterating the purpose of the scheme, has requested the residents to comply with the guidelines as to number of passengers allowed in a vehicle i.e., maximum 2 persons apart from driver Via a tweet. He has appealed to follow this till further orders.
