Muktsar, May 6, 2020: Expressing regret over unintentional error in his order on home delivery of liquor, Deputy Commissioner, Sri Muktsar Sahib issued a revised order within minutes of issuing the first one.
Terming it as “a clerical error”, the DC MK Aravinda Kumar clarified that the moment the error was spotted it was immediately rectified and the order containing the error was withdrawn.
A revised order has since been issued.
The order in which the said error crept in referred to publicity of the statewide government order on home delivery of liquor through public address system including religious places.
“We passed an order wherein it got inadvertently mentioned that the information be spread from the loudspeaker of the village gurudwaras and corrected order was issued. Direction have also been given to change template para and permanently delete word of village Gurudwara from official order to avoid controversy in future,” the DC said.
The opposition lost no time in criticizing the order. Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson Daljit Singh Cheema took to twitter in lashing out against the government as Sri Muktsar Sahib is a place of deep religious significance.
Keeping in view the religious sentiments, the DC regretted the mistake. Everyday office of the District Magistrate passes orders of public importance in view of the present worldwide health crisis due to the spread of Covid-19.
