1200 mosquito nets would be distributed free of cost : SMO Dr Dilbag Singh
S.A.S. Nagar, Boothgarh , August 26, 2020: The health teams led by Senior Medical Officer, Primary Health Center (PHC) Block Boothgarh, Dr. Dilbagh Singh distributed mosquito nets to people in Hoshiarpur, Takipur and Tira Jhungian villages here on Wednesday.
Dr. Dilbagh Singh said that the health department is distributing mosquito nets in these three villages of the block where Malaria positive cases were reported during the last season. He informed that about 1200 mosquito nets would be distributed free of cost to the people in these three villages and 400 mosquito nets were distributed on the first day. The rest of the mosquito nets will be distributed in a day or two.
He said that mosquito nets prove to be very effective in saving us from mosquitoes and if properly cared for, they could last for many years.He said that the health teams of Block Boothgarh are working to create awareness among the people to check the spread of malaria.
Dr Dilbag further said that in the last few days teams of health department had released Gambusia fish in the ponds of different villages in the areas. These special species of fish are very useful because they feed on mosquito larvae, which are dangerous to human life.
Dr. Dilbagh Singh said, “Malaria is a severe form of fever which is spread by the bite of an infected Anopheles mosquito. This fever-spreading mosquito thrives mainly during the rainy season. Malaria awareness and precautions can save us from this severe fever. Diagnosis and treatment of the fever is free of cost in government health institutions”.
He added that the symptoms of malaria typically develop within 10 days to 4 weeks following the infection. Common symptoms of malaria include, shaking chills that can range from moderate to severe, high fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, anemia, muscle pain etc. Dr. Vikas Randev, Health Inspector Gurtej Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Baljit Kaur and other health workers were present on the occasion.
