Mohali, August 29, 2020: The Education Department, under the visionary stewardship of the Education Minister, Vijay Inder Singla and the Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, is all set to translate another unique trendsetter initiative aimed at making Punjab a leader in qualitative improvement in education.
After successfully executing the " Mission Cent Percent" , " Each One, Bring One" and " Ghar Baithe Sikhiya" drives to outsmart the private schools in the PSEB results , unprecedented increase in enrollment by the government schools and extending 'On Line Education' facility to the students through different digital modes including TV. Radio and latest applications of information technology, the education department has conceptualized " Punjab Achievement Survey", perhaps the first of its kind initiative by any state in the country.
The " Punjab Achievement Survey" , is entirely based on the pattern of
" National Achievement Survey". It is aimed at to prepare the students and teachers for the ensuing " National Achievement Survey" .Besides, this mega preparatory exercise, curently underway, would go a long way in further strengthening the foundation of qualitative improvement in school education. It would help in strengthening understanding level as well as enhancing the reasoning ability of the students.It would be conducted in all the government and government aided schools of the state comprising students from primary to XII classes . The learning outcome of the students would be assessed on the basis of Multiple Choice Questions( MCQs) as per the prescribed syllabus of different classes. It would help in strenthening the understanding of basic concepts of the different subjects, enhancing reasoning ability as well as honing up specific skill to attempt competitive examinations.
The encouraging response from the students has been witnessed to the preparatory "on line quiz" held recently by the education department. As per the available information, as many as 8.10 lakh responses from the students of primary classes i.e from class first to fifth and 19.61 lakh responses from the students of upper primary level i.e. from classes 6th to 12th have been received.
Keeping in view the encouraging reciprocration from the teachers, students, parents and community to PAS related activities and on line quizzes, , the Education Department has been preparing Question Papers to develop comprehensibility of the basic concepts of different subjects . The questiion papers and the related study material duly scrutinised by the teams of subject experts , is being made available on Punjab Educare App .Besides, a comprehensive programme of conducting tests based on the syllabus taught of different subjects as per the given weekly schedule has been planned.
The webinars to impart training to DEOs, Deputy DEOs, BPEOs, School heads , teachers of Government schools, Govt. Aided Schools, District Mentors, Block Mentors, PPDCs, BMTs, CMTs, etc are being organised regularly to sensitize them about the parametres, tools, procedures for the survey so that all of them could play their role actively and meticulously for ensuring success of the ' Punjab Achievement Survey'. The school teachers have been organising webinars to sensitise students and their parents about the Punjab Achievement Survey. Besides, the students , parents as well as community is being sensitised regarding PAS Tests and activities through print and social media as well as Public Address System of the religious places and affixing flex boards at public places.
The Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, has constantly been taking stock of the Punjab Achievement Survey related activities and the good practices being adopted at the implementation level. During the webinars, the Education Secretary, invites to share good practices and suggestions so that they could be replicated to ensure successful execution of the " Mission PAS".
" The officials and the teachers of the education department have become quite familiar with such challenges and they have been doing exceptionally well in facing the challenges despite facing many odds during the pandemic COVID-19. I am sure that they would successfully execute the "Punjab achievement Survey" with renewed vigour and enthusiasm", said Education Secretary.
