Adopting vocational education for girls to become self-reliant: Purkhalvi
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) August 27, 2020: Admission for the upcoming session 2020-21 in Government ITI (w) Mohali is in full swing for which great enthusiasm can be seen among the youth of the area.
Briefing the media in this regard, the Principal of the institute Mr. Shamsher Purkhalvi said that in view of the outbreak of Covid-19, the Punjab Government has implemented a number of changes in the admission process this year so that the children do not face any difficulties. Mr. Purkhalvi said that this year Punjab Government has started DST scheme in all the institutions of Punjab with the intention of providing complete employment to the educated youth, under which part time training will be given to the children in the institute and half time practical training in the concerned government and semi government industries so that the trainees do not have to wander for employment after completing the course. In reply to a question, he further said that this year the institute offer courses in Computer knowledge, Electronics Mechanic, Stenography English, Sewing Technology, Surface Ornamentation Techniques, Information Technology, Draftsman mechanical, Draftsman civil and Computer Hardware and Network Maintenance for girls. Mr. Purkhalvi informed that Basic Cosmetology and Punjabi Stenography courses are running for SC girls which are absolutely free of cost. The head of the institute Mr. Purkhalvi said that this year in collaboration with Swaraj Engines Ltd. short term courses (for three months) in Child Care and Senior Attendant Trade have also been started which are absolutely free.
The girls enrolled in these courses will be provided facilities from time to time as well as scholarships by the government. He said that apart from the workshops equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, the institute also organizes state level sports and cultural competitions. He appealed to the parents to motivate their children for maximum enrollment in the institution for the betterment of their daughters' future and self-reliance.
