SGPC is aware of its rights & duties, Grewal should keep his advice to himself: Bibi Jagir Kaur
SGPC would not back down from helping farmers
Amritsar, March 10, 2021: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur has given a statement on the comments of BJP leader Harjit Singh Garewal who talked against the works being done by the SGPC in favor of struggling farmers. SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur has strongly reacted to the remarks made by BJP leader Grewal.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said, "Harjit Singh Grewal is making a statement against Sikh traditions. His statement as to why the SGPC is helping the farmers is an expression of his ignorance of dharma (righteousness). Grewal does not know that the Gurus always gave priority to sewa (humanity service) and taught to stand with the society."
SGPC president said, "Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is aware of its rights and duties. Grewal should keep his advice with himself."
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji gave great praise to the farmers and guided them by farming himself.
"Today, due to the arbitrary behaviour of the BJP government, the farmers are on the brink of disaster. At such times, Harjit Singh Grewal should stand with the farmers and not question the organizations that help the farmers", said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
She said that following the path shown by the Gurus, the SGPC has stood by the farmers and will continue to do so in future also.
"The langar, accommodation, medicines and other services will continue. Being a Sikh, BJP leader Grewal should not make such statements and he should think before speaking. Grewal should highlight the anti-farmer policies of his party's government", said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
