Kisan Morcha condemns attack on BJP MLA Narang by farmers, holds BJP responsible
Chandigarh, March 27, 2021: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has condemned the violent attack on Abohar MLA Arun Narang by agitating farmers today in Malout. The farmer union however held BJP equally responsible for the incident.
BJP MLA Narang who was in Malout town on Saturday to attend a conference was gheraoed by the farmers who publicly humiliated him and stripped him naked. The agitating farmers also threw ink on him. He was rescued by the police force.
"Today, farmers protested against BJP MLA from Abohar in Punjab. This agitation of farmers, under adverse circumstances, turned violent and the MLA was physically assaulted. It is a matter of regret that an elected representative was treated this way. We do not encourage such behavior. We strongly condemn this act," read the press statement issued by the SKM.
"We consider the BJP and its allies are responsible for this incident. The central leadership of the BJP is rooted in its ego and instead of solving the problems of the farmers, they are busy in the elections, but local leaders are facing the bitter results of this behavior of the central government," he added.
Farmer leader Dr. Darshan Pal Singh said that it has been more than 4 months since farmers have been protesting on the borders of Delhi.
"Farmers have kept themselves strong in every season and intensified their fight against the three agricultural laws and for the MSP, while remaining peaceful. During this time, around 310 farmers have been martyred. Hundreds of farmers have got injured or fallen ill due to road accidents and other reasons. The government has been inhumane towards the farmers in an environment where it has completely ignored the farmers and their resistance," Dr. Darshan Pal said.
"In Punjab, this movement was started against these three agricultural laws, ever since when these laws were introduced in form of ordinances. The farmers of Punjab played a leading role in this movement.
The biggest strength of this movement has been that this movement is peaceful and the farmers have shown their strength loudly at every stage of the movement with patience. SKM leaders have also emphasized everywhere that our movement will remain peaceful," he added.

Leaders of the BJP and its allies have been inciting the farmers with their rhetoric statements against the farmers. Even martyr farmers were insulted by few leaders. Due to all this and in the context of opposition to agricultural laws, farmers have been socially boycotting the leaders of BJP and its allies.
The SKM further stated that during the Bharat Bandh yesterday, there have been reports of misbehaving with media persons by protesters. We condemn this kind of behavior with journalists. Samyukta Kisan Morcha appeals to all the protesters to remain peaceful and disciplined.
"The farmers' movement is now spreading from the borders of Delhi to every corner of the country. This historical movement of farmers will surely succeed on this path of nonviolence," the SKM added.
