Ludhiana (Punjab), May 27, 2025 — In a bid to enhance voter participation in the upcoming Ludhiana West by-election, the district administration conducted a voter awareness campaign at Government College for Girls, Bharat Nagar on Tuesday.
The initiative focused on encouraging young voters, especially first-time student voters, to actively engage in the democratic process by casting their votes on Election Day, June 19.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain addressed the students, urging them to recognize the power and responsibility that comes with voting.
“Your vote is your voice. Every single vote has the potential to shape the future of our country,” he said, appealing to the youth to also inspire their peers, families, and communities to participate in the election.
Jain emphasized that active voter engagement is a cornerstone of a healthy democracy, and youth participation is essential for ensuring that governance reflects the will of the people.
The event featured cultural performances, interactive sessions, and a voter pledge ceremony to create a sense of civic responsibility among the students. College faculty and local officials joined the campaign, underlining the collective effort needed to foster an informed and active electorate.
With this awareness drive, the administration hopes to significantly increase voter turnout and promote a culture of democratic participation among young citizens in Ludhiana West.
