Chandigarh, December 07, 2016: Terming the opening of Badals hotel “Sukhvilas” in a joint venture with Oberoi group as ‘illegal’ and against the spirit of law of land, Co-Convener of RTI wing of AAP today Dinesh Chadha said that as per the norms of Environment Department, Oberoi group cannot run any commercial hotel on the particular land.
“Badals attained the permission from Environment Department to construct Metro Eco Green Resorts on the land (reserved for forest) through illegal way”, Chadha said adding that as per the norms of Environment Ministry, Badals have no authority to transfer the land to any third party without the permission of Central Government.
Even in the Punjab’s Eco Tourism policy, under which the permission was granted to Badals, it is clearly mentioned that project would not be completely commercial; Chadha said claiming that contrary to the norms, name of the Hotel is kept as Oberoi Sukhvilas Resorts & Spa, which clearly indicates that Badals have transferred the land to Oberoi Group to run the hotel.
Morever, Badals in a fraudulent manner shown the land allocated to “Kinnow Orchard” as baron land to initiate the project in illegal manner, AAP leader said adding that by doing so Badals have not only gone against the rules, but also denied the small farmers their legitimate dues.
