Chandigarh, December 16, 2016: State Convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gurpreet Singh Waraich today said that SAD-BJP ministers were not only patronizing the Mafia Raj in other businesses but also indulged in the scam while running their official vehicles to claim fuel from the tax payers money.
The quantum of the scam could be gauged from the fact that Forest Minister Chunni Lal Bhagat travelled from Chandigarh to Mohali and back on April 5, 2015 and as per the logbook, the distance covered was 350 km, Waraich said adding that for Bhagat’s trip from Jalandhar to Kapurthala and back on April 7, 2015, the distance was shown as 330 km (actually, it is 42 km).
Even Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, known for his links with drug lords of Punjab, was not left behind in this scam and on April 1, 2015, travelled from Mohali to Zirakpur and then to Chandigarh and his car “covered” 160 km as per logbook, Waraich said adding that the facts came into fore when the information was sought under RTI Act by AAP leader Dinesh Chadha.
Unveiling more detailed of the information received under RTI Act, Waraich said Irrigation Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon travelled on May 5, 2015, from Chandigarh to Mohali and back and the logbook showed that the distance covered was 210 km. Two days later, he travelled from Ludhiana to Sahnewal and back. The logbook again recorded 210 km, he added.
State Convener of AAP said that when Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) took note of the ‘scam’ and tried to fetch the record from transport department, but the authorities refused to give official logbooks of the ministers to CAG.
