Punjab reports first COVID-19 case: Haryana woman tests positive in Mohali

Mohali (Punjab), May 26, 2025: Punjab has recorded its first COVID-19 case in recent months, after a 51-year-old woman from Yamunanagar, Haryana, tested positive at Fortis Hospital in Mohali.
According to health officials, the woman had recently travelled to Dera Beas in Punjab to attend a religious gathering (satsang). During the event, she reportedly collapsed due to unstable blood pressure.
Her condition did not stabilize despite treatment, prompting a referral to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, on May 23. Following standard medical protocols, the hospital conducted a COVID-19 test, which returned positive.
