Vaccination drive for industrial workers kickstarts in Ludhiana
Ludhiana Industrial units gets 15140 doses of COVAXIN,
Doraha, Ludhiana, May 29, 2021: The pace of life-saving jab drive in Ludhiana is set to be intensified with the administration, on Saturday, received 15140 doses of Covaxin vaccine ordered by 20 industries for their workers.
Kick-starting the vaccination at Ganga Acrowools limited near Doraha today, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal said that vaccination is the only way to prevent another wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
They said that the stock of 15140 doses of vaccine ordered by 20 industries of the Ludhiana through district administration has reached here and all the doses would be administrated to the workforce of these industries in the next 48-hours. The other industries where vaccination have started today are Hero Cycle, Avon Industries, Ralson cycle and Sportking.
They told that directions have been issued to the health department to hold maximum camps in these industries for ensuring all workers get the jab of COVID vaccine.
They said that the fresh doses would put the drive on the fast track and would ensure a larger section of the industrial workforce get the shield at the earliest.
They emphasized that those countries where the vaccination drive was carried out on war footing, have managed to save their people from the devastating wave of Covid-19 which India faced.
They disclosed that the industry of Ludhiana had given an encouraging response to the vaccination drive when the administration initiated vaccine at doorsteps drive in March 2021 due to which the operations in their units remain underway for 24-hours in the deadly wave of the pandemic.
They welcomed the utmost interest taken by the industries in getting their workers vaccinated at the earliest and aggressive drive would help to save precious lives from the pandemic.
They said that industries have upheld the tradition of Punjabis by helping their workers in getting the vaccine.
CII vice-chairman and president of Ganga Acrowools Ltd Amit Thapar appreciated the Punjab Government for providing the vaccine at Rs 460 only on a priority basis and exhorted the other industrialists to avail the benefit of the government’s offer. He said that some of his industrialist friends in other states are unable to procure vaccine.
