SGPC starts 10th COVID Care Centre at Kathunangal, Amritsar
Amritsar, May 29, 2021: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has started the tenth Covid Care Centre at Gurdwara Janam Asthan Baba Buddha Ji in Kathunangal town of Amritsar district with a capacity of 25-beds.
The patients of Level I & II will be admitted to this care center and free medicines and langar have been provided by the SGPC along with concentrators for oxygen to treat the patients.
The tenth Covid care center set up at Kathunangal was jointly inaugurated by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal.
On the occasion, senior Akali leader and former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia, SGPC senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka and other prominent personalities were present.
Speaking on the occasion, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the Sikh body SGPC has set up Covid care centers at various places in Punjab to help the patients. He said this initiative of the SGPC has brought great relief to the people.
SGPC Bibi Jagir Kaur said that it is time to stand with the people and SGPC being the own body of the Sangat (devotees) is committed to public service.
“So far, ten Covid care centers have been set up in Punjab to provide services to the Covid-19 victims and if required, more such centers would be set up at other places”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
On this occasion, Bikram Singh Majithia said, “Efforts being made by the SGPC to save people from Covid-19 are commendable and the alliance of the Shiromani Akali Dal with the Sikh community is proving to be a boon for the people of the state.”
On this occasion, SGPC members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Harjap Singh Sultanwind, Bawa Singh Gumanpura, Mangwinder Singh Khaparkheri, Jodh Singh Samra, Dr. AP Singh Dean of Sri Guru Ramdas Medical University, Akali leader Talbir Singh Gill, and OSD to SGPC president Dr. Sukhbir Singh and others were present.
