Nawanshahr, September 05, 2020: Two Nawanshahr teachers - Kavita Sabharwal, English Mistress, Government Senior Secondary School(boys), Rahon and Parmanand, Head Teachers, Government Primary School, Sajawalpur, were honoured with " State Award" on the occasion of " Teachers Day" observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of former president, Dr. S. Radhakrushanan. It is worthwhile to mention here that the " Teachers Day" Award function was held virtually this year due to pandemic COVID-19. The main function was organised at Patiala, where the Education Minister, Vijay Inder Singla, Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, DGSE, Mohammad Tayyab and DPI( EE), Lalit Kishore Ghai, were present and conferred state awards to the teachers and oficials of Patiala district. At district headquarters, the DEOs, Dy DEOs, honoured the awardees. The Ceremony was telecast across the state.
District Education Officer( EE), Pawan Kumar, Deputy DEO(SE), Amrik Singh, Deputy DEO( EE), Chhotu Ram honoured Kavita Sabharwal and Parmanand with state awards. While Kavita Sabharwal, English Mistress, has contributed towards infrastructural development at GPS, Kang, her previous school as ETT teacher as well as GSSS, Rahon( boys), where she has been serving presently. Besides, she has been contributing a lot towards content development as well as 'On Line Education' in English subject, the Head Teacher, GPS, Sajawalpur, Parmanand has been feliciatated with ' State award' for his contribution towards converting both Government Primary and Midle Schools, situated in the same campus at village Sajawalpur by mobilising donations to the tune of 25 lakh and enhancing enrolment from 17 to 127 students in Primary School and from 9 to 36 students in Middle school of Sajawalpur village in the district. The school came into lime light in SEptember last year, when the Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, visited the school alongwith about 500 newly recruited teachers. The objective of the visit was to mobilise the newly recruited teachers to have first hand experience of the dedicated efforts being put in by the government school teachers to spruce up infrastructural facilities in government schools with active community participation to boost the " Sikhiya Sudhar Muhim" of the Education Department.
District Smart School Mentor, Principal Rajneesh Kumar, Media Coordinators Parmod Bharti, Nirmal Singh and Gurdial Singh, MIS Coordinators Jagdish Rai, Ranjit Singh, among others, were present on the occaion.
