CHCs to act as Covid Care Centres for Level-II patients, 80 beds equipped with piped oxygen supply
Jalandhar, September 08, 2020: Amid rising number of COVID cases, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Tuesday inaugurated three new Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Dada Colony, Basti Guzan and Khurla Kingra, established at a cost of Rs 16 crore.
A total of 80-beds in these CHCs consisting 30-beds in Dada Colony and Basti Guzan and 20 in Khurla Kingra, has been equipped with piped oxygen supply.
Accompanied by Member of Parliament (MP) Chaudhary Santokh Singh, MLAs Pargat Singh, Sushil Kumar Rinku, Rajinder Beri, Avtar Singh Junior Bawa Henry, Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja, and others, the Health Minister said that Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh was committed to tackle the surge in Covid cases and opening of these new CHCs had taken Covid bed capacity for level-II patients to 364 in government health sector of which 284 beds are being utilized in Civil Hospital.
The minister said that these centres would prove to be instrumental for dealing with spurt in Covid cases efficaciously with ultra modern facilities and equipments to treat level-II patients.
Balbir Singh Sidhu said that oxygen supply had been installed on all 80 beds as it is the primary requirement in the treatment of Covid patients and these will play a pivotal role in the fight against Covid-19.
Appealing to the people not to take flu-like symptoms lightly and immediately contact nearby health facility besides get tested for Covid without fail so that the spread of the contagion can be halted. He said that people were reporting late to the doctors hence their condition further deteriorates. He said that there was no dearth of resources and manpower with the state government to tackle this pandemic. He said that the major focus was only on saving the precious lives of people from this pandemic for which all of us have to join hands.
Giving a warning to rumour-mongers of serious repercussions, Sidhu said some unscrupulous elements were behind the spread of unfounded and baseless information of organ harvesting, profiteering. He said that police have been given directions to take action against such anti-social elements.
The Minister also said that the state government will provide 50000 free of cost Covid Care kits to active patients in hospitals and home isolation to ensure better care for them. He said that the kits would include an Oximeter, Digital Thermometer, Face Masks and necessary tablets.
He said that team Jalandhar was performing very well to combat the novel coronavirus. He said that these efforts must continue until the Corona Virus was not wiped out.
He said that the facilities like operation theatre, emergency ward, dispensary, female and male ward, elevators and others have been provided.
On the occasion, Vice Chairman Punjab Health System Corporation Bobby Sehgal, Deputy Mayor Harsimranjeet Singh Bunty, SDMs Rahul Sindhu, Dr Jai Inder Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Chawla, DMC Dr Jyoti, SMO Dr Kashmiri Lal, Dr Jagdish Kumar, Executive Engineer PHSC Sukhchain Singh and others were present.
