DMINISTRATION TO INCREASE COVID-19 SAMPLING, SETS 5000 DAILY TARGET

Jalandhar, September 21- Aiming to conquer novel coronavirus by aggressive testing in Jalandhar, the district administration on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori has decided to further augment its sampling capacity and has set the target of collecting 5000 samples daily to ensure early detecting and treating the potential Covid patients.
Chairing a meeting with health officials to discuss Covid-19 situation in Jalandhar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Vishesh Sarangal, who is also in-charge of tertiary hospitals of level-III asked the health department to constitute 20 new sampling collection teams which would take the total teams to 100 in Jalandhar. He said that new sampling corners including in ESI hospital would also be set up in various locations of the city to ensure intensified sampling.
He further asked the officials of Regional Disease Diagnostic Lab (RDDL), Ladowali road to provide information about the need for equipment so that the testing capacity could be ramped here. He said that for the requirement of equipment in RDDL, he would take up the matter with high-ups.
Vishesh Sarangal further informed that the only way to flatten the curve and breaking the transmission chain is to do more and more testing, treating and isolating the patients at the earliest.
He said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government had already introduced the walk-in testing and direct home isolation for the suspected corvid-19 patients.
He said that the district the administration was fully geared up and prepared to tackle any situation arising from the Covid-19 pandemic as beds in private and government hospitals were already reserved. The Additional deputy commissioner said that the district the administration would leave no stone unturned to serve people in these trying situations.
Further, he urged people to not to fall prey to rumors besides following safety precautions that include wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, washing hands, and others.
Prominent among present in the meeting included Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Kaur Chawala, Medical Superintendent Mandeep Kaur Mangat, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Gurmeet Kaur Duggal and SMO Dr Kashmiri Lal.
