LUDHIANA, September 12, 2020: Food, Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu on Saturday, visited Civil Hospital Ludhiana and Dayanand Medical College (DMC) Hospital to take stock of the facilities for the COVID-19 patients at both the hospitals. The minister was accompanied by Political Secretary to Chief Minister Captain Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu and Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma.
Addressing the officials, he said that the State Government is concerned about the safety of its citizens and making all the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by creating awareness as well as by providing the required treatment by identifying the patients at an early stage.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC Development) Sandeep Kumar, who is also COVID-19 nodal officer informed the minister that there are 150 Level-2 beds are available to treat the COVID-19 patients of which 28 beds are more than Level 2 facility. He said that presently 68 patients are undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at Civil Hospital of which 31 patients are on Oxygen while remaining are stable.
Bharat Bhushan Ashu directed Civil Hospital authorities to ensure cleanliness at the hospital and also provide hygienic food to the patients besides giving them the best treatment.
The Minister also visited the DMC Hospital where Dr Bishav Mohan, Dr Sandeep Puri and Dr Rajesh Mahajan informed that currently 241 COVID patients— 144 Level-3, 84 Level-2 and 13 Level-1 patients are undergoing treatment. They said that the DMC is the only institution which is charging patients according to the Government prescribed rates. They said that DMC has separate wards for COVID and non-COVID patients.
Bharat Bhushan Ashu expressed satisfaction over the arrangements at the Civil Hospital and DMC Hospital.
He also solicited support and cooperation from the public to not fell into the prey of rumours and get themselves tested to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
