Jalandhar, September 24, 2020 - To ensure complete facelift of the rural areas in the district, district administration is set to accelerate the pace of development works with the state government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has released funds worth Rs 77.61 crore to the district in the second phase of the Smart Village Campaign (SVC).
Disclosing more details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that to benefit the rural populace in the post lockdown period, the state government has taken this decision. He said that this is a path-breaking initiative of the state government to give impetus to the development of the villages and ensure the prosperity of the people residing in them.
He said that the administration has made a comprehensive plan for all-round development of 890 villages in the district.
He said that an elaborate mechanism has been devised for the smooth and efficient execution of all development works under this scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to ensure that the works get started and completed within the stipulated period for the well-being of the people. He said that it was the need of the hour for giving a fillip to the overall development of the state. He asked the officers to ensure that there should not be further delay in execution of these projects.
The Deputy Commissioner also asked the officials of Rural Development and Panchayat Department to complete all the works started under the SVC program.
He said that the flawless execution of the work would be monitored constantly by the district administration and the state government. He said that this campaign will act as a catalyst to ensure comprehensive development of the villages through these works.
