District President condemned FIR against BJP State President
Ferozepur, September 15, 2020: The BJP in its meeting chaired by Surinder Singh Bagge Ke Pippal, District President on Tuesday criticized the lodging of an FIR against BJP state President Ashwani Sharma.
Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma and over 40 others have been booked for allegedly violating the COVID-19 guidelines,
Speaking to medial persons on Tuesday, BJP district president Surendra Singh Bagge's People said that the Congress government was trying to divert the attention of the people of Punjab from local issues, to suppress the voice of the opposition under the guise of epidemic rules.
He asked Capt to clear as to whether the Corona epidemic rules were only for the opposition and as to why these rules are not applied to their MLAs, ministers and leaders. In the meeting with which reference the FIR has been filed against state president Ashwani Sharma, the physical distancing was followed and masks were applied and it is not a crime to ask about the condition of your workers, he added.
Citing a reference, he said, the Congress state president held a meeting in Gurdaspur with 200 people and MLAs continued to walk in the streets with 100 people at the inauguration of development works but no action was taken against them rather a case was registered against the BJP president.
Earlier, Former state BJP chief Manoranjan Kalia termed the act as a classic case of political as well as police vendetta. Kalia had said, the pictures of Congress MLAs, MPs, ministers and party office-bearers are often published in newspapers, wherein they can be seen violating the Covid rules and regulations. However, the police haven’t taken any action against such defaulters.
