Anti-Corona Task Force opens Stitching Centre at border village Kaluwala touching three-sides from Pakistan
Feroepur, September 22, 2020: In a unique initiative for the people of village Kaluwala the team members of Anti-Crorona Task Force today visited the village, with an aim to help the needy women and to create awareness about corona pandemic.
Added here, the village is around 18.5 KMs from Ferozepur and to reach the village around 1.5 KMs across the Satluj river, one has to board the boat which is used to ferry the residents daily and the ‘ferryman’is a ‘messiah’ for the people of the area, who ferries people in the absence of bridge for the last so many years. He is, however, compensated by the villagers on monthly basis.
The team members reached an island like village Kaluwala on the Indo-Pak border, surrounded by the Sutlej River on three sides – in boat.
The ACTF team members led by Ashok Behal distributed free sewing machines to seven needy women and also opened a Stitching Centre with the objective of creating self-employment opportunities for them.
The team members - Dr. Satinder Singh General Secretary, Sunir Mona Vice President, Vipul Narang Advisor and Suraj Mehta Spokesman, Sohan Singh Sodhi, Mohit Bansal, Mangal Singh Nambardar, Jagdish Singh Pharmacist and Malkit Singh - apprised the villagers about the importance of health and hygiene and talked about keeping the surroundings clean in view of corona pandemic besides encouraging the school children of the village to get involved in education.
Satinder Singh said that the difficulties faced by them due to closure of schools and lack of mobile network in the border area should be taken up with due diligence, hard work and maximum participation in Punjab Achievement Survey.
A large number of masks to the villagers to create awareness among the people of the border area about the prevention of Corona besides the services avaialble for testing, treatment at the civil hospital and to make the Mission Fateh launched by the Punjab government a success. He also apprised the Punjab government about the instructions for testing, treatment and prevention of corona.
