World Sikh Organization slams Indian Govt for ‘blatant foreign interference' in Canada. Know why
Chandigarh, June 20, 2021: Amid the ongoing deadlock between the Indian government and farmers over three farm bills, World Sikh Organization (WSO) has slammed the PM Narendra Modi-led Central Government for allegedly interfering in the internal matters of Canada.
On Saturday, the World Sikh Organization, organization that works for the welfare of Canadian Sikhs, shared on its official Twitter handle that they have obtained the note through the Freedom of Information request made to the district board and supplied it to CBC News.
The note that the WSO was referring to is reportedly is a letter written date March 11 by the India Consulate in Toronto where the Consulate General of India claimed that elementary and high school students in Peel, Toronto, and York region are learning about the protests which could potentially disrupt peaceful relations between Indian communities in Ontario.
As per the report published by CBC News on its website, the Consulate General of India further urged the Ontario Ontario's Office of International Relations and Protocol to "alert the Canadian authorities ... to investigate" what's being taught and "to sensitize" the school boards so they "immediately remove such hateful and factually incorrect material."
In the Twitter post, WSO said that this is another example of blatant foreign interference by India in Canada.
