Chandigarh police books Lakha Sidhana, Jass Bajwa & Sonia Mann among others
Chandigarh, June 27, 2021:
Chandigarh police booked gangster turned activist Lakha Sidhana, Punjabi artistes Jass Bajwa and Sonia Mann, farmers’ leader Baldev Sirsa among many others on various criminal charges.
The different FIRs have been registered at police stations of Sector 3, 17 and 36 on June 26, when thousands of farmers held a protest here to mark completion of seven months of Kisan Morcha at Delhi borders.
As per the police, the booked suspects incited the mob, involved in rioting, caused harm to public property, violated COVID norms and assaulted cops on duty, during their protest. They were holding swords and flags in their hands and they were leading large groups of protesters.
An FIR under Sections 186, 188, 332, 353, 147, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered against Lakha Sidhana, a resident of Bathinda and Rajinder Singh, a resident of Mansa at the Sector 17 police station.
Jass Bajwa and Sonia Mann have been booked under Sections 147, 148, 149, 186, 188, 332, 341 and 353 of the IPC at the Sector 17 police station.
Kisan leader Baldev Singh Sirsa and other unknown persons have been booked under Sections 147, 148, 149, 186, 188, 332 and 353 of the IPC at the Sector 3 police station.
In each FIR, the police claimed that the suspects also tore uniforms of cops, while they were marching towards Chandigarh after breaching barricades.
