July.11, 2020: Bassi Pathana Block Congress President cum Municipal Councilor Ravinder Kumar Rinku was tested COVID positive after he voluntarily gave his throat sample as he came in contact with some persons, who came in contact with head of Jai Maa Mission, who died due to COVID. He was taken to Gian Sagar hospital Banur today. While talking to media persons on phone Rinku expressed great concern over the arrangements as well as treatment being meted out to COVID patients admitted there. He said that he was admitted in the morning no doctor came till evening for check up, as he was told that doctors hesitate to enter COVID ward. He was not given any type of medicine and food was served in a very hate type situation. There is only one water cooler and the patients have to go there to drink water. He said there is no proper distancing between the COVID patient beds, moreover no masks are given; the majority of the COVID patients are without masks. He said the bath rooms are in very pitiable condition, garbage is piled up in bath rooms and are stinking. He said that he is asymptomatic but by staying in such an atmosphere his health can deteriorate. He has urged the State health Minister to enquire and to make proper arrangements for COVID patients, or they should be allowed for home quarantine instead of such unhygienic places.
When contacted Balbir Sidhu, State health Minister, he expressed great concern over the situation. He said he will get it enquired and assured that COVID patients will be treated as per guidelines and there should not be hatred for them rather they should be motivated.
