CM URGES ALL TO RISE ABOVE POLITICAL CONSIDERATIONS TO MAKE HISTORIC OCCASION TRULY MEMORABLE
BADAL LAUDS PUNJAB GOVERNMENT FOR SPECIAL SESSION, URGES ALL PARTIES TO BE CONCILIATORY IN PERSONAL & POLITICAL CONDUCT
CHANDIGARH, NOVEMBER 06, 2019: The Special Session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday resolved unanimously to carry forward Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji’s message of humanism, tolerance and compassion besides preserving the environment.
Led by Chief Minister and Leader of the House Captain Amarinder Singh, the House re-dedicated itself “to Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s timeless legacy and to the realization of ideals and values preached by the great Guru” during the Special Session convened to mark the historic 550th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.
The resolution said the House, “in remembrance of this great spiritual preceptor, humbly bows down in respect expressing its devotion and faith.”
“Transcending the bounds of religion, caste, nation and race, Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji blessed the entire humanity with the boon of his unifying message of unity, equality, truth and love, the resolution read, adding, “By according equal respect to rich and poor, high and low, man and woman, any by calling himself the companion of the poor and destitute, Guru Nanak Dev Ji granted eternal refuge and love to all of humanity.”
The resolution further pointed out that “in the form of his divine Bani, the arti, Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji composed a cosmic anthem, making manifest the eternal unity of the entire cosmos, nature and humanity, as well as the sanctity of this entire interaction.”
“By calling air the Guru, water the father, and earth the mother, he revealed the deep and eternal bond between nature and mankind. Guru Nanak Dev ji blessed the world with the bounty of his divine words and music, which will for evermore accompany humanity by becoming a spiritual light, support and inspiration,” the resolution added
While presenting the resolution, the Chief Minister recalled the legacy of `sewa’ to the first Sikh Guru that he had inherited, and which he was proud to take forward by being a part of this historic occasion. He revealed that his father Maharaja Yadvindra Singh organised free eye camps across the country to treat over one crore persons suffering from various eye ailments as part of the 500th Prakash Purb Celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and he was entrusted with the task of carrying this noble cause in Patiala district.
Earlier, his grandfather Maharaja Bhupindra Singh, in 1927, performed the Sewa of strengthening of bank of river Raavi, which was washed away due to heavy floods, thus undertaking the repair of damaged portion of Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib. Likewise, his father also got constructed the holy tank (Sarovar) in Gurdwara Panja Sahib in 1935, recalled Captain Amarinder.
The Chief Minister urged all political parties to celebrate the mega event in a befitting manner, cutting across political affiliations, to propagate Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s eternal message of oneness of God, brotherhood and peace.
He also requested former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who has served the House for long time, to commemorate this momentous occasion on a common platform, rising above petty political considerations, to send a positive message across the country and strengthen the bonds of goodwill, bonhomie and harmony in line with Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s basic philosophy.
Badal, while speaking on the resolution, lauded the state government for holding the special session for commemoration of 550th Prakash Purb by inviting eminent personalities like Vice president M Venkiah Naidu, and former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. He further said that the joint participation of MLAs and MPs from Punjab and Haryana was an exemplary goodwill gesture and would be instrumental in further dissemination of Guru Ji’s teachings in the region.
Supporting the resolution wholeheartedly, Badal urged all parties to adopt a conciliatory approach in their political and personal conduct. The real tribute to Guru Nanak Dev Ji would be to follow his teachings and philosophy in our day to day life, he reiterated.
Urging all legislators to follow the ideals of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Badal resolved to imbibe these the timeless teachings in letter and spirit. Badal also underscored the need to preserve nature and combat environmental pollution, in line with Guru Ji’s philosophy to make Punjab clean, green and pollution-free for the welfare of the future generations.
Cabinet Minister Charanjit Singh Channi informed the House that under the dynamic leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, the state had decided to introduce science and technical education study material in Punjabi to promote their mother tongue, which would be a real tribute on this historic occasion. Channi also urged all the political parties to celebrate the historic occasion unitedly, in reverence of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s ethos of humanism and brotherhood. Channi hoped the Opposition would heed Captain Amarinder Singh's appeal to join Punjab Government's elaborate programmes commemorating the 550th Prakash Purb.
Underlining Guru Sahib's scientific approach to nature and life, MLA Budh Ram said that the great Guru’s timeless pearls of wisdom could help people tread the path of righteousness and divinity.
MLA Gurpartap Singh Wadala also lauded the state government for holding special Vidhan Sabha session and said the celebrations should have been held collectively in consonance with Guru Sahib's philosophy and ideology. While strongly supporting the resolution, he also hoped the Corridor would prove to be a harbinger of peace and tranquility in the sub-continent.
