An exclusive 66 KV substation along with dedicated 11 KV feeders for Gurudwara Ber Sahib set up in the city
49 new transformers set up in the city to ensure reliable power voltage and reducing losses
Chandigarh/Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala), November 11, 2019: Adding a lighting charm to the ongoing celebrations of 550th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has undertaken a mammoth practice to provide 24X7 uninterrupted power supplies to the holy city.
A vast underground cable network has been laid through the narrow lanes of the city besides setting up new substations and feeders.
Divulging more, Superintending Engineer of PSPCL Inderpal Singh said that a plan was chalked out by the department to provide 24X7 uninterrupted power supplies to Sultanpur Lodhi, which needed a mammoth exercise in terms of setting up new sub stations, feeders and transforms to meet the demand of increased load during the celebrations.
"Working swiftly on the execution of this plan, we immediately set up a new 66KC substation at Sultanpur Lodhi to strengthen the existing two substations", adding that the Superintending Engineer said that the underground cable network was also laid through the narrow lanes of the city to supply the power to every nook and corner of the city, which cost nearly Rs. 12 Crore.
He further added that the setting up of new substation ensured reliable and proper voltage to the consumers and the building of the new substation was given a monumental look and the office building was also renovated with the cost of Rs. 50 Lakh.
Inderpal Singh said that earlier the power supply was provided through 220 KV sub Station at Village Jhal Laiwal and 66KV substation at village Pandori Jagir.
However the setting up of new Substation was not quite enough to cater the demand so that the two power feeders were bifurcated into five out of which a new dedicated 11KV feeder was set up for Gurudwara Ber Sahib, said the SE.
He said that this bifurcation of feeders reduced losses and ensured reliable voltage to provide smooth supplies.
The Superintending Engineer said that currently PSPCL is providing about 6 MW of load by installing 24 new 200 KVA and 25 100 KVA transformers with the switching system on each transformer along with the yellow paint to add the festivities.
MLA Sultanpur Lodhi, Navtej Singh Cheema said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is committed to organize the 550th Parkash Purab in an unsurpassed manner and the power supply plays a vital role in this goal. The MLA said that more than 250 PSPCL personnel have been deployed to maintain the newly built setup, adding he said that all the mammoth exercise was undertaken to ensure the 24X7 uninterrupted power supplies, which ensured the mesmerizing lighting and the awesome look to the city at night.
