Two prisoners released from jail on Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th birth celebrations in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, November 12, 2019: As a humanitarian gesture to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, Two prisoners have been released from Central Jail Ferozepur. A pledge was also administered to 550 prisoners to say good bye to drugs and banned items, as a part of celebrations.
Addressing the prisoners, Karanjit Singh Sandhu, Jail Superintendent said, they should become a good citizen on release from jail following the teachings of Guru Nanak of practicing labour, reciting and distribution.
He said, on this auspicious occasion, two prisoners Vikram and Nishan Singh have been released from Central Jail under special apology and 125 more prisoners are also likely to be released in near future before completion of their sentence period.
On this occasion, Deputy Superintendent Jaspal Singh Khaira, Paramjit Singh Gill, Deputy Superintendent Security and police staff were present.
Not only this, on Guru Nanak’s birth celebrations, 34 prisoners and two female prisoners were baptized – Amrit ceremony, as per the traditions of Sikhism and perhaps it is the first time in the history of the jail.
Earlier, the entire officer and officials deputed in jail were also administered the pledge to perform their duties honestly, sincerely and as per the jail rules.
