Amritsar, July 26, 2020: The delegation of Amritsar Vikas Manch felicitated the outgoing Director of Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport Manoj Chansoria for his outstanding services. Manch presented a model of Sri Harmandir Sahib, a shawl, a memento and a letter of appreciation to the outgoing director.
Manch President Manmohan Singh Brar lauded the dedicated service rendered by the Director. He said that during the tenure of Manoj Chansoria, the airport has witnessed remarkable and comprehensive development. The first floor of the airport building was modernized to international standards, enabling it to handle a larger number of passengers.
A large canopy was erected in front of the main building for the convenience of passengers, construction of ten more aircraft parking bays, provisions of eating outlets including the lounges, arrangements for hassle free passenger movement and better coordination between various departments working at the airport.
Under his able administration, Airport flawlessly handled more than 60 repatriation flights to London, Toronto, Vancouver, Kuala Lumpur, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, USA, etc. during the difficult time of corona virus. Government directions of social distancing, touch free movement of passengers and sanitizing the airport were meticulously compiled by the authorities.
The new Director V.K. Seth was also felicitated by presenting a bouquet of flowers. He also expressed his determination to work for further development of the airport in future. The delegation of Manch also included Patron Dr. Charanjit Singh Gumtala, Principal Kulwant Singh Ankhi, Senior Vice President Hardeep Singh Chahal, Surinderjit Singh and Daljit Singh Saini.
The Global Convener of FlyAmritsar Initiative Sameep Singh Gumtala in a message from USA also thanked Director Manoj Chansoria for his service and said, “the unprecedented repatriation effort in handling of about 60 repatriation flights to Canada, UK, USA, Malaysia and other countries in April-May would not have been possible without the facilities made available at Airport during his tenure, including the newly built first floor. The credit goes to the management of Airport director and his staff. During his tenure, yearly traffic reached 2.5 million passengers for the first time in financial 2018-19.
