Patiala, July 26, 2020: The Punjab Public Service Commission has very correctly recommended to the State Government for making CSAT as only the qualifying examination for the Punjab Civil Services Examination, rather than keeping it on the statutes as a competitive exam.
This was stated by former Deputy Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Bir Devinder Singh.
“I wonder why Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has adopted an obstinate and irrational attitude towards the most genuine demand of the career conscious youth of rural Punjab, who wish to pursue their career by qualifying the Punjab Civil Services Exam,” he said.
“It is furthermore relevant to mention here that even the UPSC and several other states including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana has changed CSAT into a qualifying exam, then what hassles the Punjab Government for not amending the relevant statutes to facilitate the aspirations of the rural youth of Punjab,” Bir Devinder said.
“It appears quite intriguing that more than 1500 students have asked Capt. Amarinder Singh on his much-publicized engagement on his Facebook page ‘Ask the Captain’ on every Saturday at 7.00 PM; this pertinent question to make CSAT as only the qualifying examination for the Punjab Civil Services Examination rather than keeping it on the statutes of the PPSC as competitive exam. But Capt. Amarinder Singh has preferred to look other way around rather than answering the specific question of the most worried youth. I wonder why such an apathy of the CM, towards the career conscious youth of the State of Punjab?” asked Bir Devinder.
