S.A.S. Nagar, July 29, 2020: The entire water supply system in Mohali city is being renovated at a cost of about Rs. 14 crore which would provide better and quality water supply facilities to the people of the city. This was stated by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Labour, S. Balbir Singh Sidhu in a press statement here today.
He said that at a cost of Rs.1390.54 lac execution process of various tasks related to water supply system of the city has already been initiated.
Mr. Sidhu said that in order to supply high-pressure water to the people of Mohali, booster stations were being set up at five places in the city which would meet the long-standing demand of the people of Mohali for high-pressure water supply.
These five places include Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 5, Sector 70 (Mataur) and Sector 72. He said that apart from setting up booster stations, the old pumps and motors installed at various water plants in the city would also be replaced as required. In addition, water pipes would also be replaced as required. He said that a modern SCADA system is also being installed to detect water leakage in the pipelines and rectify it immediately. He said that instructions have been issued to the concerned officers to complete all the development works as soon as possible. The health minister said there had been complaints from various quarters in the city since a long that houses and other places were supplied with water at low pressure.
He said that the matter was brought to his notice after which he asked the concerned authorities to take necessary steps in this direction. The MLA said that with the renovation of water supply system, the people of Mohali would obviously get better and quality water supply facilities. He said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh is concerned about the people of all walks of life. He said that quality facilities were being provided to the people in every field including health, employment and education. The Congress government of the state is opening the door of progress in every field for all sections of the people, said he and added that while a large number of jobs have been provided to the youth in the recent past, a large number of farmers' loans have also been waived. Villages as well as cities are being actively developed. He said that all round development work in Mohali is in full swing. Despite economic hardship due to the corona virus pandemic, there has been no shortage of grants for development works.
