155 students belonging to Govt. schools to receive Cash Award

Chandigarh, July 26, 2020 : It is quite incredible for the Govt. School teachers and students.But it is official now. The Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh has showered praise exuberantly upon the government school teachers and the students for the excellent performance in the recently declared class XII result by the Punjab School Education Board. The Chief Minister was responding to a query put by a Nawanshahr resident, Sukhjinder Singh during
" Ask Captain" facebook live programme yesterday. The Chief Minister said that the consistent, concerted and dedicated efforts of the education department especially the teachers for sprucing up the infrastructural facilities and bringing in qualitative improvement in teaching - learning had started fructifying. The pass percentage of government schools this year is 94.32% , while the pass percentage of Associated schools is 87.04 % , Affiliated schools is 91.84 and the Govt. Aided schools is 91.03.
The Govt. Schools have out-shined the private schools consecutively for the second year in PSEB results, thus bringing in a change in public perception. It is quite evident from the fact that this year the government schools have witnessed 13 % increase in enrollment despite facing many odds in wake of the COVID-19, said the Chief Minister, while announcing a cash prize for the students who have scored 98 % and above marks.
. It is worthwhile to mention here that there are total 1903 Govt. Senior Secondary Schools in the state, as many as 1204 schools have achieved cent percent result. On the other hand, as many as 528 private schools out of 1718 achieved cent percent result.
As per the available data, as many as 155 Government School students have scored 98 % and above marks in the PSEB class XII exam result. Out of these, 09 are from Patiala, 06 each from Amritsar, Sri Mukatsar Sahib, SAS Nagar( Mohali), Jalandhar, 12 from Bathinda,03 from Barnala, 10 from Fatehgarh Sahib, 05 from Rupnagar, 12 from Sangrur, 13 from Hoshiarpur, 02 from Kapurthala, 05 from Gurdaspur, 02 from SBS Nagar, 07 from Ludhiana, 18 from Fazilka, 19 from Mansa, 01 from Pathankot, 04 each from Faridkot and Tarn Tarn, 05 from Ferozepur district. Besides, as many as 08 students from meritorious schools and 03 from PSEB Adarsh Schools have scored more than 98 % and above marks, thus making them eligible for the Cash Award of Rs. 5100/- announced by the Chief Minister.
" The commendation from the Chief Minister would further give a fillip to the teachers to realise their real worth as nation builders. They would have the contentment of serving less privileged section of the society, which has been looking towards government schools to fulfill the hope and aspiration of providing quality education facility to their children. The government school teachers have been doing a commendable job in imparting " On Line Education" during the unprecedented pandemic COVID-19", said the Education Secretary , Krishan Kumar, who has also held a series of webinars to felicitate the School Principals, teachers, topper students as well as officials of the education department for the remarkable achievement. He has also exhorted them to take the achievements of the government schools in providing better infrastructural as well as quality education facilities to the masses so that the community could avail the benefits of the quality education alongwith various welfare schemes of the government.
