Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, a senior IAS officer of Punjab, has resigned from service to contest the upcoming assembly by-elections in the state.
He will be the Congress Party candidate from the Phagwara constituency.
From Dakha, the party will field Sandeep Sandhu, who is Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s political secretary. From the Jalalabad seat, Raminder Amla will contest the elections while from Mukerian, Anju Bala, wife of late MLA Rajnish Babbi, will get the party ticket.
According to sources, a meeting of Congress high command in the state will be held in Chandigarh today to formally announce the name of candidates.
