Capt. Amarinder and farmer leader from Punjab in list of 100 most powerful Indians
Chandigarh, March 29, 2021: Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Farmer leader Joginder Singh Ugrahan have been included in list of 100 most powerful Indians by Indian Express.
According to list Capt. Amarinder Singh’s name has been placed at no. 15. He is much ahead in list than Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and many other heavy weight leaders.
According to Indian Express, he got this slot because he steered the state deftly through the pandemic and the farmers’ agitation. With the three new farm laws driving a wedge between Akali Dal and the BJP, and AAP putting up a desultory performance, he has emerged as the undisputed leader of the state. He is Military Historian and writing a book about 1971 war.
Farmer leader Joginder Singh Ugrahan has been placed at no 88 in list. About him it has been claimed that A former soldier, Ugrahan is now fighting a determined battle with an army of marginal farmers and labourers from Malwa and Majha belts of Punjab to ensure that the three farm laws enacted by the Centre are repealed. Not part of the 31-union Samyukta Kisan Morcha, he has set up a separate stage on Delhi’s Tikri border and was among the farmer union leaders whom Union Home Minister Amit Shah chose to dial in November.
