Veteran Journalist Jagjit S Dardi to get Padam Shri on R-Day

Renowned veteran journalist and educationist, S. Jagjit Singh Dardi (Editor-in-Chief, Daily Charhdikala, Chairman- Chardilkla Time TV and Sri Guru Harkrishan Public Schools & Colleges), has been selected by the government of India for one of the highest Civilian Awards ‘Padam Shri’. In recognition of his exceptional services, he is going to be bestowed with the prestigious award by the President of India Ramnath Kovind on the occasion of Republic Day of India.
He has been selected for his dedicated services in national integration, communal harmony, and exemplary contribution in the field of media, education, and promotion of Punjabi language, culture & heritage.
Know about Jagjit Dardi:
Dardi began his career in his teenage for the creation of Punjabi speaking state with struggles and sacrifices and was court arrested on June 22, 1960, for his participation in the Punjabi Suba Movement from Dukhniwran Sahib at the young age of twelve years.
He has 62 years of long experience and has done remarkable services in the field of media. He became the Member of the Press/ Media Advisory Committees of Lok Sabha in 1997-98 and Rajya Sabha in 2014. He is also a member of the Executive committee of the world’s largest body of Print Media “THE INDIAN NEWSPAPER SOCIETY” (INS) since 1988. He became a member of the Press Council of India in 2001 and continued his services for three terms. He remained an accompanying member of media delegations of all the Prime ministers of India since 1993 and visited various countries of the world.
Under his dynamic guidance, Charhdikala Newspaper is being published daily since 1970. He has achieved the heights of excellence not only in the field of print media but also in the field of electronic media. He started the Chardikla Time TV channel in the year 2007. Chardikla Time TV channel has now become one of the leading Punjabi satellite channels globally.

Due to his exceptional services, he has also been bestowed upon with the title of Shiromani Patarkar Award by President of India K.R. Narayan in 1998, Shiromani Sahitkar Award by Govt. of Punjab in 1992. He has been honored by World Punjabi Conferences in Canada in 1989 and U.S.A in 1997.
