Chandigarh, August 25, 2020: The city of Burnaby in British Columbia, Canada, has declared September 6 as Khlara Day in honour of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
Khalra brought to light 25,000 illegal killings of Sikh youth in Punjab by Punjab Police during militancy.
On September 6, 1995 he was taken away his from house by the police and was never heard from again.
Four policemen are undergoing life imprisonment after they were found guilty of kidnapping and murdering Khalra.
